Freeport Family Network and PTC Help to Welcome our Incoming Kindergarteners
By the parent of a Kindergartner
There were some excellent activities held by the PTC and Freeport Family Network this summer to help alleviate those butterflies in our little children’s tummies…and maybe our tummies too!!
We met for ice cream, and some went to Winslow Park, but our biggest hits were Bradbury Mountain, meeting at the playground on Mondays, and the most recent potluck dinner. It was so great to see these new Kindergartners interacting with each other and getting to know each other before school started. At Bradbury Mountain many of the youngsters went off and ahead together, beginning their friendship making experiences. The 5th Annual Potluck was well attended, with about 1/3 of the class there! This may have been a record!
An added bonus this year was, in addition to meeting new friends early, these Kindergartners also got to meet our new principal Tom Ambrose. He attended the playground get-together (and included an open house), Bradbury Mountain, and also the potluck dinner. What a great way to learn new names and faces before Sept. 1st!
Overall, it was a huge success! Welcome Kindergartners of 2010!
