K-5 Literacy Strategist

School location: This is a district level position; the specific grade span focus will be made based upon strengths of the candidate and existing strategists.

Understanding and experience with the Teachers College Reading and Writing Project and the ability to lead teachers in this work is required.   A successful candidate will also demonstrate reflective practice through the use of data, student work  and observation to assist staff in identifying next steps for growth.  A strong track record managing the complexities of both long term and short term support for teachers is a plus.  Effective communication skills and personal initiative are also necessary to be successful in this position.

K-8 Maine teacher certification required

DATA SPECIALIST

40 Hours per week/225 days per year/7:30am -4:00pm

The successful candidate will have an understanding of and experience with student information systems used to manage data in an educational setting.  PowerSchool experience is preferred but not required.  Expertise with office productivity tools, especially spreadsheets, is essential.  The candidate will possess the ability to work well with a variety of people in a collaborative environment.  The candidate must be able to take the initiative to solve problems and work successfully without close supervision.  

RSU No. 5 is seeking a Data Specialist to help support the daily operations of the student information system, PowerSchool, and the district's data management needs. Other duties include:  coordinating MEDMS/Infinite Campus related data entry by secretaries into student information system; manages and uploads data to MEDMS/Infinite Campus or other appropriate data management systems; updates demographic and school data for student testing; compiles and verifies the integrity of data required for state reporting; providing support and training to staff concerning district and state data management systems; creating and providing data reports for administrators and teachers; and other duties as assigned by school and district administration.  This position will work cooperatively as a team member within the Information Technology department.
