BUS DRIVER/CUSTODIAN

Requirements: Clean driving record, ability to pass a road test, CDL license with P & S endorsements; five years driving and two years custodial experience preferred. Individuals must obtain a Criminal History Background Certificate (CHRC) from the Maine Department of Education.

Fill in on various bus routes as needed including daily routes, sports and field trips. Individual will perform custodial work when not driving bus to complete a 40-hour workweek.

Durham Community School/Freeport Middle School

.5 Math Strategist - to assist the math teachers in grades 6-8 at both Durham Community School and Freeport Middle School to help them improve student learning.  Successful middle school level teaching experience is required.  Experience with curriculum design, CCSS and Proficiency Based Education is preferred. Must hold a current State of Maine 300 -Mathematics certificate.

Morse Street School

.4 Librarian - will create a library environment that is welcoming and well managed.  This highly valued member of our school community will collaborate with classroom teachers, parents and other specialists to assist students as they acquire 21st century library/media skills.  Teaching experience with students Pre-K - grade 2 is required.  Knowledge of children's literature, current trends in purchasing, digital literacy, classroom management, and elementary standards and curriculums are all helpful.  Strong communication skills and initiative are also necessary to be successful in this position.  Individual must hold a current State of Maine 071 - Library/Media Specialist certificate.

Literacy Specialist - will provide essential leadership through direct support for teachers, educational technicians and students.  Understanding and experience with the RTI process and evidenced based reading interventions, as well as a knowledge of Teacher's College Reading and Writing Project units of study is required.  A successful candidate will demonstrate reflective practice through the use of data and student work.  Strong track record of managing the complexities of both long-term and short-term intervention support for students is a plus.  Effective communication skills and personal initiative are also necessary.  Candidate should have at least 5 years teaching experience with demonstrated skills in early literacy development.  Must hold a current State of Maine 020 - General Elementary certificate, but a 079 - Literacy Specialist certificate is preferred.

Mast Landing School

Music Teacher - will be responsible for teaching general music and chorus to students in grades 3-5 and band to student in grade 5.  Successful candidate should be a dedicated, creative educator who is adept at bringing a love of music to children and at helping students developing their skills.  Preference may be given to applicants with experience teaching with the Orff Method and solfege.  Must hold a current State of Maine 614 - Music certificate.

Grade 4 Teacher - to plan and teach upper elementary grades.  Experience utilizing Teacher's College Reading and Writing Project as well as Everyday Math is preferred.  Must hold a current State of Maine 020 - General Elementary certificate.

.6 Technology Teacher (1 year only) - this one year only position will plan and teach weekly, digital literacy classes for students in grade 3-5.  Successful candidate should have familiarity with Mac OS and applications and the ability to collaborate with teachers across the content areas to support their use of technology to facilitate teaching and student learning.  Must hold a current State of Maine 680 - Computer Technology certificate.

.9 Art Teacher (1 year only) - this one year only position will plan and teach art classes using a variety of media to students in grades 3-5.  The ability to collaborate with grade level teaching teams is essential.  Must hold a current State of Maine 620 - Visual Arts certificate.

Durham Community School

Grade 3 Teacher - experience with Everyday Math and Teacher's College Reading and Writing Project is preferred.  Must hold a current State of Maine 020 - General Elementary certificate.

Grade 6 ELA & Social Studies (1 year only) - this one year only position requires experience with Teacher's College Reading and Writing Project and standards based work is preferred. Must hold a current State of Maine 020 - General Elementary certificate.

Freeport High School

Social Studies Teacher - looking for experienced teacher to work on the grade 10 team and to support the grade 10 Western Studies and grade 9 Global Studies curriculums.  The teacher would be expected to co-develop units and learning experiences that have cross-curricular elements.  Seeking a qualified individual with an understanding of proficiency based education, co-teaching, and effective instructional practices.  Must hold a current State of Maine 200 - Social Studies (7-12) certificate.

Life Science Teacher - the ideal candidate will be hardworking, enthusiastic teaching professional with excellent subject knowledge and a strong background in proficiency-based learning.  Successful candidate will be a motivated individual with a passion for encouraging and inspiring all students to learn and excel. Must hold a current State of Maine 395 Life Science (7-12) certificate.

Physical Science Teacher - will have a background in teaching Chemistry.  Qualified candidate will have familiarity with MLTI technology. Experience with proficiency-based education and standards based grading is preferred.  Must hold a current State of Maine 350 Physical Science (7-12) certificate.

English Teacher - will be committed to student success.  The ideal candidate will have experience with proficiency-based education.  Successful candidate will thrive in a collegial environment, who has experience in working as part of a teaching team, and who can contribute to the strength of our school and community.  Must hold a current State of Maine 100 English/Language Arts certificate

Special Education Teacher - will provide specialized instruction and support to serve students with disabilities.  Must hold a current State of Maine 282 - Special Education certificate.

District-Wide

Gifted & Talented Teacher - through a combination of direct instruction, coaching, and consultation, the effective GT teacher will support the needs of identified students in grades K-5 across the district.  In addition to supporting students in literacy and math, this teacher will collaborate to provide enrichment in visual and performing arts.  Coordinating the identification process and analyzing data are expected.  Strong communication and initiation skills are critical for success.  Must hold a current State of Maine 690 - Gifted & Talented certificate.

Social Worker - will provide services to students with disabilities in order to support them in the classroom and educational setting.  Must be licensed by the Maine State Board of Social Work Licensure and hold a current State of Maine Criminal History Records Check (CHRC).

Instructional Strategist - will provide coaching/mentoring to special education and regular education staff to improve delivery of services to students with disabilities.  Must a hold a current State of Maine 079 - Special Education Consultant certificate OR 035 - Assistant Administrator of Special Education certificate OR 030 - Administrator of Special Education certificate.

Anticipated Board Certified Behavior Analyst - to provide consultations to staff to improve programming for students with behavioral challenges.  Must be licensed as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst and hold a current State of Maine Criminal History Records Check (CHRC).

Speech Pathologist - will administer speech/language evaluations to determine student eligibility and provide speech services to address communication needs. Must be licensed as a Speech Pathologist and hold a current 293 Speech & Hearing Clinician (B-12) certificate.

Elementary Special Education Teacher - will provide resource level of services and develop positive support plans when needed to serve students with disabilities.  Preference will be given to a candidate with a background and training in working with students with behavioral challenges.  Must hold a current State of Maine 282 - Special Education certificate.

Computer Technician - the Computer Technician will act as part of the district technical support team supporting the technical operations of the district and the daily use of classroom technology.   The ideal candidate will have experience in a technical support role, preferably in an educational setting, with a focus on the customer and a proven track record of a strong customer support.  This position requires a familiarity with the MLTI 1:1 project, experience with various end user devices (iPads, Chromebooks, and Apple/Windows laptops and desktops) and experience monitoring and troubleshooting wired and wireless local area networks.  Apple/Mac OS X, Microsoft, A+, and other certifications desired but not required for this 40-hour per week, year-round position.

Part-Time Van Driver (20 hrs per week) - the part-time van driver will drive van Monday-Friday, 7:30 AM - 9:30 AM and 1:45 PM - 3:15 PM (earlier run on Fridays).  Successful candidate will have a clean driving record, with at least 5 years driving experience. Individual must obtain a Criminal History Background Certificate (CHRC) from the Maine Department of Education.

Teen Treks Leader

Looking to spend the summer outdoors making a difference in the lives of teenagers?

RSU5 Community Programs is looking for a highly motivated individual to lead our popular Teen Treks Summer Adventure Program for campers entering grades 6 and up. Applicants must have experience leading groups in adventure based programming, possess good communication and organizational skills and be passionate about working with teens. Applicants must be able to effectively and safely supervise groups on all field trips such as ropes courses, amusement parks, state parks, beaches and more. This program also includes one overnight white water rafting trip to Adventure Bound in Caratunk, Maine.

Applicants must be First Aid & CPR certified, at least 21 years of age, possess a valid driver's license and the ability to drive a 7-passenger van. Camp runs Monday - Thursday, 8:30 - 4:30pm, from June 20 - August 11. Applicants must be able to commit to the entire length of the program.

FREEPORT HIGH SCHOOL

Educational Technician II (Study Hall Monitor) - the Ed Tech will monitor study halls and work to maintain a safe, academic environment with high expectations for student productivity.  The successful candidate will be responsible for daily attendance, communicating with main office, and supporting student academic achievement.  Experience working with high school students and experience working in a high school setting is desired. An Educational Technician II authorization (022) from the State of Maine is required for this 30 hour per week position.
