Director of Instructional Support

 RSU 5 is seeking a Director of Instructional Support to coordinate and oversee all special education programs in the district.  The Director will interpret and implement Chapter 101 and IDEA regulations, coordinate ADA and 504 services, support system-wide RTI, develop and administer system-wide special education budget.  Director is also responsible for supervision and evaluation of student services staff and will work closely with Curriculum Director to support development and improvement of standards-based instructional programs.

Successful candidate must have at least 5 years experience, a minimum of a Master's degree and hold or be eligible for 030 - Administrator of Special Education certification from the State of Maine.

Pownal Elementary School

Special Education Teacher - Pownal Elementary School is seeking a special education teacher to join their K-5 team.  The candidate should be skilled at designing and implementing specially designed instruction in academic and functional areas for children requiring functional life skills programming.  Experience as a case manager and knowledge of the IEP process and regulations is required.  Previous experience working with children with academic and fuctional needs is desired.  Must hold a valid State of Maine teaching certification with a 282 - Special Education endorsement.

Morse Street School

.5 Educational Technician - to provide literacy, math and/or behavioral support for students in grades K-2.  May also provide cafeteria and playground supervision.  Background in early literacy is preferred.  An Educational Technician authorization from the State of Maine is required for this 15 hour per week position.

Education Technician (long term substitute) - to provide literacy, math and/or behavioral support for special education students in grade K-2.  May also provide cafeteria and playground supervision.  Background in early literacy is preferred.  An Educational Technician authorization from the State of Maine is required for this 30 hour per week position.  Anticipated length of position is September 2015 - January 2016.

DATA SPECIALIST 

Qualifications:  The successful candidate will have an understanding of and experience with student information systems used to manage data in an educational setting. PowerSchool management experience is required. Expertise manipulating data through various productivity tools is essential. The candidate will possess the ability to work well with a variety of people in a collaborative environment. The candidate must be able to take initiative to solve problems and work successfully without close supervision.

Position Description:  RSU5 is seeking a Data Specialist to manage the student information system, PowerSchool, and the district's overall data management needs. Specific duties include: managing the daily PowerSchool operations; implementing and monitoring PowerSchool customizations; providing support and training to RSU5 staff concerning PowerSchool and state data management systems; coordinating and uploading data related to MEDMS/Infinite Campus and other appropriate data management systems; compiling and verifying the integrity of data required for state and federal reporting; creating and maintaining reports as requested by RSU5 staff; and other duties as assigned. This position will work cooperatively as a team member within the Information Technology Department. This is full-time, year round salaried position.

Durham Community School

Educational Technician II - experience working with students with disabilities and previous employment in a school setting is desired.  This position will provide academic and functional instruction/support to student with disabilities at the elementary level.  An Educational Technician II certification from the State of Maine is required for the 32.5 hour per week position.

Pre-K Educational Technician II - this position will provide support for our Pre-K program.  Early childhood training is preferred.  An Educational Technician II certification from the State of Maine is required for the 30 hour per week position.

Art Teacher (Long Term Substitute) - substitute needed to instruct K-8 Art approximately August 26, 2015 - October 13, 2015.  Must hold a valid State of Maine teaching certification with a 620 - Visual Arts endorsement.

Mast Landing School

Director of Adult, Recreation and Community Education

RSU5 is seeking a Director of Adult, Recreation and Community Education to develop, organize and maintain a balanced program for all segments of the RSU5 communities in the areas of adult education, recreation, cultural and civic affairs (social service and neighborhood concerns) based on the identified needs of the community. The successful candidate will develop and maintain an on-going community needs assessment and evaluation of programs and community response to insure identification and maximum use of resources and facilities; conduct an effective public relations program to strengthen awareness and support of department offerings and programs; be responsible for maintaining accurate fiscal and enrollment records.

The successful candidate will hold 066 (Director Adult & Community Ed) certification from the Department of Education or be eligible to obtain. Experience in program design, implementation and evaluation; experience with budgets and fiscal records; experience with GED testing centers; and effective public relations and marketing program experience.  At least two years experience as a Director is preferred for this full-time, salaried position.

.5 K-6 Math Strategist

RSU5 is seeking a half-time K-6 Math Strategist to provide essential leadership through both the development and implementation of RSU5 math initiatives, through design and supervision of staff development, direct support for teachers and educational technicians.  Overseeing intervention support and programming.  At least 5 years teaching experience with demonstrated skills in mathematics and experience using Everyday Math is a must.  Must have knowledge of Common Core Standards and Practices diagnostic tools and teaching strategies to support students in need of RTI.  Successful candidate will possess the ability to demonstrate reflective practice through the use of data, student work and observation of both long-term and short-term support for teachers.  Strong communication skills and initiatives are also necessary to be successful in this position.  Must hold a current State of Maine 020 - General Elementary certificate.

Adult, Recreation and Community Education

Adult, Recreation and Community Education has the following openings in their Laugh & Learn Program located at Morse Street School.

After School Teacher (2 positions)

12:30 pm to 5:30 pm; 25 hours per week/school year

We are looking for an energetic, responsible, reliable, and caring professional who has a positive attitude. An ideal candidate must be able to demonstrate an understanding of developmentally appropriate practice and candidate will work collaboratively with co-teachers.  Candidate must be able to communicate effectively with parents, children and other staff members. Duties include participating in and planning activities, enforcing all safety rules and procedures, maintain cleanliness and organization of the room and generally are accountable for the classroom. Experience in an Early Childhood setting is preferred.

Outside professional development hours and after-hours staff meetings are required.

Position requires CPR/First Aid certification and a valid CHRC (fingerprinting) from the Maine Department of Education (can be obtained upon hire).

Preschool Teacher

40 hours per week/school year

The Preschool Teacher is responsible for providing a safe and developmentally appropriate preschool program in accordance with all DHHS policies and procedures and the Maine Early Learning Guidelines. Candidate must be able to communicate effectively with parents, children and other staff members. Duties include the development and implementation of a developmentally appropriate preschool program for young children.  Childcare and preschool teaching is desired.

Position requires a college degree (preferably in Early Child Education) and a valid CHRC (fingerprinting) from the Maine Department of Education (can be obtained after hire).
